ExplainMed
What?
An online tool that allows a patient to convert complex medical documents (reports of examinations or consultations) into understandable and reliable information. Medical reports are usually written in difficult medical jargon and are not understandable to the average patient. The online tool 'ExplainMed' also known as ‘Spexter’, makes medical information understandable.
How does it work?
The app's scanning function allows patients to scan a paper or digital medical record by taking a picture of it, within the app. The app converts the text of the medical report to digital text.
Based on artificial intelligence, the app creates a short, simple summary of the report. This gives the patient the most important information from the medical report.
The patient can click on some difficult words in the scanned text to read more explanations in understandable language for each of them.
